Techno CNC Controller

The HDS Controller is identified by a large freestanding tower which houses the OSAI Controller, variable frequency drive, amplifiers, inverter, fuses, breakers, and computer.

About our Osai Controller

OSAI, a company specializing in numerical control since 1957 started within the machine tool division of Olivetti, and gradually expanded its activity into the international market. Over time the group created closer links with Allen Bradley/Rockwell, the American leader in industrial automation, until it became a part of the Rockwell Group and changed its name and logo into Rockwell. In 1997 OSAI split from Rockwell and returned to being an independent company, specialized in numerical control and automation systems. OSAI continued to build on the previous success, with steady growth over the next ten years. In 2007 OSAI was acquired by the major Italian electronics manufacturer PRIMA ELECTRO S.p.A. and has now become one of the major worldwide CNC and automation system providers.

Back to Top12HP HSD High Frequency Automatic Tool Changer Spindle

The HDS Series CNC machine comes standard with a 12HP HSD high frequency automatic tool changer spindle. This precision spindle requires no maintenance, uses industry standard ER collets and ISO 30 tool holders. Fully programmable speeds from 6000 to 24000 RPM, and comes complete with pneumatically retractable vacuum hood.

Back to TopGantry

The gantry is constructed of tubular steel with reinforcing ribs welded throughout the length of the column which results in a steady firm beam assembly. This quality engineering and workmanship result in smooth precision cutting.

CNC Machine Tool Holder Clamp Fixture

NEW CNC Machine Tool Holder Clamp

The Techno HDS CNC Machine comes equipped with a tool holder clamp fixture, providing a much easier way of inserting and tightening the CNC router bits into your tool holder. This method is safer and easier than using the common procedure of tightening the collet nut with two wrenches while the tool holder is still in the spindle.

Techno CNC HDS G-Code Osai Interface

Techno’s CNC HDS Windows-Based G-Code Osai Interface is included with each machine and is an indispensable tool in any CNC Router application. Its open architectural design accepts G-Code files from any industry standard CAD/CAM software package, and can operate using inch or metric units and is highly customizable to better suite your needs. Customers that are new to automation find the Techno CNC Interface easy to learn and operate. Most are up and running in less than one day of training. They find the intuitive design and functions easy to use and remember. The most fundamental controls and displays are all visible on the main page. Customers soon discover that just because the Techno CNC Interface is easy to use, it does not mean that it is not a comprehensive CNC program.

Several impressive features include:

  • Full automated tool length offset cycle
  • Remote access
  • Intuitive design and operation
  • Skip functionality
  • Highly Customizable
  • Built-in editor for shop floor modifications
  • Machine feed rate and spindle override control
  • Continuous step jogging, or convenient hand-held pulse generator can be used to fine tune positional locations
  • CNC NC code previewer
  • I/O machine status display
  • Convenient vacuum pump switches on interface

    HDS CNC Router Electrical Enclosure

Back to TopHDS CNC Router Electronics

All the electrical components are housed and wired in a doubled-doored electrical enclosure. This allows for easy access and service when needed. All wiring is tagged so that when service is required, the customer can easiliy navigate the cabinet. In addition, the cabinet serves as a work bench for the tools required.

Techno HDS CNC Router X and Y Axis Drive Train Assembly

    Back to TopDrive Train Assembly

The Techno HDS Series CNC Router uses precision helical gear racks on the X and Y axes. The mounting of the rack is inverted to help keep dust and debris from building up on the drive system, this assures smooth motion and long term reliability.

The precision gearbox is directly coupled to the Servo motor and pinion. This eliminates belt stretch inaccuracies assuring high-speed machining while the system positions the spindle accurately.

HDS Series Techno CNC Router Multi-Zone Vacuum Table

Back to TopHDS CNC Router Vacuum Table and T-Slot Profile

The HDS CNC Router has a 1 inch thick phenolic vacuum table surface mounted onto the steel base frame, keeping a rigid and consistent platform for your sheets and parts to be supported.

The vacuum table surface is multi-zoned which allows the operator to easily switch from full sheet processing to smaller part processing, (which requires a smaller segmented area). Zones can be turned off easily via control valves on the front of the machine. Gasketing can also be routed to accommodate various material sizes and styles.

The HDS Series Machine also includes a heavy-duty aluminum T-Slot profile in multiple locations across the table surface. This T-Slot accepts Techno’s square M6 T-nuts.

    Single Becker Rotary Vacuum Pump

    Back to TopCNC Vacuum System

The most commonly asked question, when it comes to vacuum hold down and nested-based manufacturing, is how much vacuum does your application require? Vacuum systems should be evaluated based on the specific application. The smaller the part or thinner the material to be held requires the greater volume of air flow, thus increasing the size of the vacuum pump.

Many people state that you can’t have enough vacuum. This is somewhat true, but depending on the application, it can be very costly. It is always easier to overbuy. Purchasing a single 40HP or 50HP pump can cost in excess of $25,000, and this is only the initial cost. What about the utilities? Depending on where your shop is located, these rates can vary considerably. Keep in mind, operating costs rarely go down, so this cost will increase year to year.
    Single Becker Rotary Vacuum Pump
“At Techno, our vacuum options and designs make our systems a valuable tool in keeping overhead down.”

There are other options to be considered. Purchasing a number of smaller pumps can help reduce cost. If you are processing sheets of material that have large parts, then a single pump can be utilized. If the nest has numerous smaller parts, then it is best to run all the pumps for maximum air flow. There are other devices which can be purchased to aid the vacuum hold-down system, such as: a spindle pressure foot, or roller hold-down. These devices push down on the material while being routed thus aiding the effectiveness of the vacuum system.

At Techno, we offer several types of vacuum pumps. The selection is application specific, but most require a pump that is quiet, clean, and requires minimal maintenance. Below are pump models we’ve selected after careful analysis and testing in various materials. Our team of Application Engineers and Sales Staff can aid you with the pump that will meet your production needs.
