Over Current

Abnormal increase in current

  1. Check if motor power corresponds with the AC motor drive output power. For more information, click here for Motor Power Check Information
  2. Check the wiring connections to U/T1, V/T2, W/T3 for possible short circuits. For more information, click here for Spindle Continuity Information.
  3. Check the wiring connections between the AC motor drive and motor for possible short circuits, also to ground. For more information, click here for Spindle Continuity Information.
  4. Check for loose contacts between AC motor drive and motor: Power off the machine completely, locate the inverter and remove its front cover and power cable cover. Perform a tug test on all power and ground cables. If any connections are loose, retighten and test again.
  5. Check for possible excessive loading conditions at the motor. This issue arises when a very heavy cut is being taken putting excessive stress on the motor.
  6. If there are still any abnormal conditions when operating the AC motor drive after a short-circuit is removed and the other points above are checked, it should be sent back to manufacturer.
