Abnormal increase in current
- Check if motor power corresponds with the AC motor drive output power. For more information, click here for Motor Power Check Information
- Check the wiring connections to U/T1, V/T2, W/T3 for possible short circuits. For more information, click here for Spindle Continuity Information.
- Check the wiring connections between the AC motor drive and motor for possible short circuits, also to ground. For more information, click here for Spindle Continuity Information.
- Check for loose contacts between AC motor drive and motor: Power off the machine completely, locate the inverter and remove its front cover and power cable cover. Perform a tug test on all power and ground cables. If any connections are loose, retighten and test again.
- Check for possible excessive loading conditions at the motor. This issue arises when a very heavy cut is being taken putting excessive stress on the motor.
- If there are still any abnormal conditions when operating the AC motor drive after a short-circuit is removed and the other points above are checked, it should be sent back to manufacturer.
